Appalachian Bear Rescue (ABR) is a nonprofit black bear rescue facility located near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Townsend, Tennessee. Since 1996, ABR has been dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned, injured, and medically needy black bears from national parks and surrounding areas. Through their world-class medical care and expertise, ABR provides these bears with a second chance at life in the wild.
With the support of generous individual donors and organizations like the Aslan Foundation and Trushel Living Trust, ABR is able to offer top-notch care to all of their bears. Their commitment to saving lives and giving bears a second chance has made a significant impact, especially in 2023. ABR also offers educational programs and activities for children, as well as opportunities for visitors to learn more about black bears and their conservation efforts.
