American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, established in 1950, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership association that acts as a forum for the exchange of information and expertise in the care and use of laboratory animals. The association organizes various seminars, platform sessions, special lectures, workshops, and round-table discussions covering a wide range of topics of interest to AALAS members and other lab animal professionals. Its publications include books and bimonthly newsletters, such as AALAS in Action, Tech Talk and JAALAS. The association offers technician certification registry program to technicians and certified manager of animal resources program to laboratory animal facility managers. The AALAS Learning Library provides online learning opportunities in professional development and laboratory animal science courses for ongoing education and training. AALAS is located in Memphis, Tenn.
