SD School for the Blind and Visually Impaired provides a range of academic programs to visually impaired students. It offers various specialized services and programs, such as adaptive physical education, computer access, life skills instruction and apartment living programs. The school also offers various other services that include extracurricular activities, orientation and mobility instruction and transition programs. It has a guidance and counseling department that works to help each student to become an independently functioning adult. In addition, the school has a library that houses books, magazines and other reference materials in both disc and cassette formats.
