Aberdeen Federal Credit Union is a community-chartered nonprofit financial cooperative governed by a board of directors and is supervised by the National Credit Union Administration. The organization was chartered on April 11, 1935 to promote thrift among the members and enable them to obtain loans for productive and provident purposes at reasonable rates of interest. Only those persons qualify to become a life-long member of the credit union who lives, works, worships or attends school in Brown County, Wis. The membership of a person will remain even if he changes jobs or move away from Brown County. The National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, a federal fund created by the Congress in 1970, insures the members deposits up to $100,000 per account.
