History
Like Charleston herself, The Society House has overcome centuries of adversity to endure as an elegant lodging option for sophisticated visitors to Charleston's famed historic district. Originally constructed in 1801, the location on the corners of King and Society Streets is at the center of the heart of Charleston's prime shopping and dining district. The building was typical of King Street merchant lifestyle - a shop on the ground floor and the family residence on the floors above. The Society House has stood strong through war, earthquake, conflagrations, floods caused by hurricanes, the Great Depression and, now, the Great Recession.
Specialties
The Society House offers visitors to Charleston's historic district accommodations comprised exclusively of historic luxury suites with a level of comfort that rivals the finest luxury hotels of Charleston.
