Formed in 1956, the SJWD Water District provides tap water to areas of Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The company serves more than 19,000 accounts and provides services to an area of 125-plus square miles that has a population in excess of 44,000 people. The district utilizes Lyman Lake, which is fed by the Middle Tyger River, as well as Lake Cooley and the North Tyger Reservoir, which are fed by the North Tyger River. Water from the lakes is treated at the SJWD Water District s filtration plant in Lyman, S.C. In addition to processing water, the company provides billing on behalf of regional providers of sewer services in the communities of Lyman, Duncan, Wellford, Greer and Spartanburg, S.C. The district is headquartered in Wellford, S.C.
