Founded in 1676, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is one of the oldest public tourist sites in the Lowcountry, and public gardens in America. Located in Charleston, S.C., it offers visits to gardens, plantation house tours, nature train, nature boat tour, cabin project, the petting zoo and nature center. The center hosts weddings and other special events. It has attained the 2010 Heritage Tourism Award from The Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation for its interpretive program at the slave cabins.
