The primary responsibilities of the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services oversees the community supervision of offenders placed on probation by the court and paroled by the State Board of Paroles and Pardons, as well as those on Youthful Offender Release from the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
The department also supervises offenders through a number of community sanctions, and helps ensure that they meet specific parole conditions. Furthermore, the department also is charged with providing assistance to crime victims, as well as any assistance needed by the courts and the state's parole board.
