Founded in 1922, the Laurens Commission of Public Works is a nonprofit, locally-owned utility organization that provides electric, gas, water and sewer services throughout Laurens, S.C. It provides a range of programs and services, such as providing new electric, gas, water and sewer connections, maintenance and repair, balanced payment plans and installation of water meters and security lights. Its switch-to-gas program installs natural gas water heaters for energy and money savings. It also provides online bill payment services to customers. The organization purchases electricity from the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency and natural gas from Williams Energy.
