The Pee Dee Research and Education Center conducts a variety of research and outreach programs. Its faculty and staff includes scientists and technicians trained in the disciplines of agronomy, weed science, plant pathology, nematology, entomology, soil science, agricultural economics and wood technology. The center s programs focus on various row crops, such as corn, soybeans, cotton and tobacco. The Pee Dee Research and Education Center also provides programs in cotton, tobacco, agroecology and turfgrass and weed sciences. The center is operated by Clemson University, which was established in 1889 and enrolls more than 17,000 students. Clemson University offers a range of baccalaureate degree programs in various fields, such as agriculture, architecture, business, engineering, natural resources, science and technology.
