Established in 1953, Briggs Elementary School serves more than 650 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Its academic curriculum includes English, math, science, language arts and social studies. The school is a part of Florence School District One, which governs various elementary, middle and high schools. Florence School District One maintains various departments, such as buildings and grounds, data processing, payroll, personnel, transportation, technology, records, public information and food services. Its schools offer academic classes in English, computer applications, language arts, math, music, science, social studies and health education. The district s schools have received the Palmetto Gold and Silver awards. Each school within Florence School District One operate libraries that offer a collection of books and reference materials.
