Ben Lippen School, located on Saint Andrews Road, is the elementary school campus. The school, whose name is Scottish for “Mountain of Trust,” was founded in 1940 by Columbia International University. The first school was an evangelical boarding for boys near Asheville. In 1952, the school became co-ed. In 1980, Ben Lippen moved its high-school program to its current location on Monticello Road after a fire destroyed the school’s main building. The elementary program began in 1990 and is held at both the Saint Andrews and Monticello Road campuses. Middle- and high-school students attend the Moticello Road campus.
