Women's Development Corporation designs, develops and produces affordable housing for low-income families, senior citizens and groups with special needs. Founded in 1979, the organization preserves and restores historic buildings, as well as revitalizes neighborhoods. Its rental apartments for senior citizens are funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Women's Development Corporation also enhances tax revenues for cities and towns and creates local construction and management jobs. The organization has worked on several projects in Rhode Island, including Villita Apartments, Saugatucket Springs, School House Place and Plaza Esperanza.
