The West Warwick Fire Department works to provide fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical services. It is comprised of more than 60 full-time employees. The department operates a special hazards unit that is used for extra lighting, hazardous spills and other emergencies. The West Warwick Fire Department maintains a fire prevention bureau and alarm division that submits site and architectural plans for review. It houses a fleet of engines, ladders, rescue vans and special hazards units. The department offers information regarding fire prevention and smoke detectors, as well as conducts various fire safety education programs. The West Warwick Fire Department also issues burning permits. It is a part of the government of the Town of West Warwick in Rhode Island.
