Knotty Oak Baptist Church, founded 1840, follows and teaches the historic doctrines of Baptist tradition known as "fundamental and independent." The church, an Independent Baptist Church incorporated under Rhode Island state law, seeks to glorify God in all that it does, according to its website. The philosophy influences the church by-laws, corporate worship, various ministries, social activities, teaching programs, church ordinances, and property maintenance. Everything worshipers do is with the glory of God in mind, with a focus on evangelism and discipleship. Pastor and parish are informal, yet reverent in their worship.
