Formerly the Administrative Adjudication Court, the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal, also known as traffic court, handles traffic offense cases from around the state. The court handles an average of 100,000 traffic violations, 35,000 motion hearings and 4,000 show-cause hearings on an annual basis. The court is a major revenue generator for the state. In 2009, $12 million was collected and deposited into the state's general fund.
