The Anita Jackson House is an 11-bed residential facility that provides a highly structured environment for adults with severe, chronic mental health problems. Its staff strives to offer patients a group home-like experience while guiding patients towards independent living and recovery. The Jackson House is operated by the Newport County Community Mental Health Center, a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive, behavioral health services to area residents.
Founded in 1964, the center is financed through federal, state and municipal funds, special grants, client fees, Medicaid, insurance reimbursements and donations. Local-state matching grants also assist in providing subsidized free care. It operates nine residential programs and facilities in the area, and has four offices in Middletown.
