The Bristol Rescue and Fire Station Headquarters was re-built in 2009 and now serves as an administrative building and rescue station for the Bristol Fire & Rescue Department. Public services include rescue, lifeline alert, carbon monoxide detection and smoke detector assistance. The headquarters is home to the office of Fire Chief Robert J. Martin. The Rescue Captain is Edward Lima.

Please do not call the fire station for emergencies. If there is an emergency, those in need are reminded to call 911 and emergency services will be dispatched.

Defiance Fire Station

The Defiance Engine & Hose Co. was founded in 1905 and moved to the current location on Hope Street in 1929. The company was the first in town to own motorized fire vehicle apparatus. The station holds Engine No. 3 and Engine No.5. The station members are avid participants in the Water Battle and were champions from 1935-1951. The station also hosts various annual events throughout the year including a clam boil and banquet.

Dreadnaught Hook, Ladder & Hose Co. #1-Bristol FD

The Dreadnaught Hook, Ladder & Hose Co. was founded in 1874 and serves an area of approximately 10 square miles. The Dreads have 70 volunteer members that have formed a tight-knit bond. The company hosts an annual clambake, and were the overall Muster winners of the Bristol water battle in 2007, 2008 and 2010. The station houses Ladder No. 1 and a special hazards vehicle, and is in charge of Marine No.1. Engine No. 4 is also located at the station, but is a separate Fog Squad vehicle manned by four members, one from each local station.

Ever-Ready Engine Co.

Captain Marc Proulx heads the 40 members of the Ever Ready Engine Co. on waterfront Thames Street. Although the station was founded in 1881, this engine company was founded in 1924. This group of volunteer firefighters holds annual events, including a clambake, surf-and-turf dinner and banquet. Ever Ready serves the Bristol Fire Department with the Dreadnaught Hook, Ladder & Hose Co. No. 4 to cover fire calls in Bristol from Chestnut Street to the Mount Hope Bridge.
