Bradford Soap Works was founded in Rhode Island in 1876. In 1931 the company moved into its present United States headquarters in West Warwick s historic Valley Queen Mill. For many years the company focused primarily on soaps for the textile industry, but since the late 1940s it has steadily broadened its product line and customer base. Today, Bradford ranks as one of the world s largest independent producers of specialty bar soaps and a leading supplier of a broad range of personal cleansing products, proprietary soap bases and specialized industrial chemicals. Bradford has been making soap by the traditional full-boiled kettle process for 125 years. Today modern technology guides the process, but the experience and skills of its soap makers are still critical to achieving the superior results kettle processing makes possible. Bradford s unique kettle soap process simulator, a proprietary computer-modeling program, guides this entire process under the hands of the skilled soap maker.
