Prison & Prevention Ministries, formerly known as Chattanooga Prison Ministry, was established in 1979 with the aim of providing support and guidance to inmates in Chattanooga, TN. Over the years, the organization has evolved into a regional prison prevention ministry, focusing on preventing inmates from returning to prison and youth from entering the criminal justice system through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and His Gospel.
In 1994, under the leadership of Gretrell Watkins, the ministry expanded its efforts to include a youth Prevention Program, which offers early intervention and prevention services for at-risk youth aged 10-14. With the launch of InZone in August 2020, the organization's dream of starting an after-school program became a reality, providing valuable support to young individuals identified as being at risk of school failure, dropout, or juvenile delinquency.
