WVYC, established in 1976, is a college radio station licensed by the Federal Communications Commission. The station transmits on an FM frequency of 99.7 megahertz and broadcasts from the Robert V. Iosue Student Union Building on the campus of York College of Pennsylvania in York, Pa. It is a Class D educational, noncommercial FM station and has a free-form alternative music block format that includes modern alternative rock and Latin music. WVYC's operating slogan is "York's Only True Alternative". The station airs various sports events, including men s and women s basketball. It also serves as a training facility for all interested York College students to learn the art and science of radio broadcasting. WVYC is operated entirely by students with a faculty advisor overseeing the daily operations.
