Villanova is one of the 16 universities that make up the Big East Conference. Its teams are called the Wildcats, and its fan base is known as 'Nova Nation. Villanova has men's teams for baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis and track and field. It has women's teams for basketball, cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball and water polo.
Villanova's men's basketball team won a championship in 1985 and has been to the Final Four of NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship four times, most recently in 2009. Villanova's football team competes in the Colonial Athletic Association, or FCS, rather than in the Big East.
