The Department of Veterans Affairs, founded in 1930, is a provider of patient care solutions. The department manages field facilities throughout the United States. It offers services through a network of more than 150 hospitals and over 900 outpatient clinics, as well as nearly 130 community living centers. The department provides pension programs for veterans and their families. The Department of Veterans Affairs also offers monetary allowance, health care and vocational training benefits to children. The department provides educational, insurance, counseling and loan guarantee programs. It manages the Veterans Health Administration and the National Cemetery Administration. In addition, the department administers a homeless program that promotes the development and provision of housing services.
