Operational for more than 80 years, United Way of the Capital Region is a fundraising organization that works year-round to reduce homelessness in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties in Pennsylvania. It funds a program that provides services to adult victims of domestic violence and their children. The program includes an emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis helpline, legal advocacy assistance and counseling services. The organization also supports a program for dropouts and other at-risk teens who need help with shelter, food, clothing, employment, transportation, counseling, tutoring and other issues. United Way of the Capital Region works in partnership with local organizations, such as the Harrisburg Senators and Colonial Park Mall. It is located in Enola, Pa.
