Operational for more than 80 years, United Way of the Capital Region is a fundraising organization that works year-round to reduce homelessness in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties in Pennsylvania. It funds a program that provides services to adult victims of domestic violence and their children. The program includes an emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis helpline, legal advocacy assistance and counseling services. The organization also supports a program for dropouts and other at-risk teens who need help with shelter, food, clothing, employment, transportation, counseling, tutoring and other issues.
