History
Our parish began services with two other churches in the 1790s, meeting in an old barn between Pennsborough (Muncy) and Hughesburg (Hughesville). St James Church built two buildings, the original church build around 1820 was replaced by current building in 1857. The church was designed by well-known American archetect, Richard Upjohn and was concecrated in 1858 by the (then) Diocese of Pennsylvania. St James is a member of the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, based in Harrisburg and under the current leadership of Bishop Audrey Scanlon and our interim priest Father Peter Harer of Lewisburg.
