Formed in 1905, the Southwest Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department works to provide emergency response services to more than 50,000 citizens. It is comprised of more than 40 sworn and nonsworn officers and firefighters. The department operates a fleet of engines, ladders, towers, pumps and rescue vans. The Southwest Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department maintains a communication center that coordinates responses to various calls for service. It offers information related to home and winter fire safety, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. The department is located in Greensburg, Pa.
