Schiff s Food Service has served the hotel, restaurant and institutional feeding business segments of northeast Pennsylvania since 1969. The company initially concentrated on cut meats and frozen foods, but has since expanded operations to include a full-service product offering, consisting of thousands of line items in groceries, provisions, produce, chemicals, dairy products and equipment. After the acquisition of one of its top competitors, Scranton Foods in 1987, it was necessary to provide a separate identity and expanded facilities to better serve the needs of the delivered foods business. Schiff's Food Service, Inc. was incorporated as a separate entity in August 1990. In addition, Schiff's Food Service relocated to a food service facility in Taylor, Pa. A USDA meat-cutting facility was added in order to provide specialty meat cutting that is required by the food service industry. This distribution center has more than 45,000 square feet of dry warehouse and multi-temperature refrigerated areas to provide a freshest product to customers.
