The Philadelphia Tribune is one of the nation s oldest and Greater Philadelphia region s largest daily newspapers that serve the African-American community. Christopher James Perry Jr. established the Tribune in 1884 to provide a voice for a community whose words had often gone unheard. It began as a single-sheet paper published weekly. It has since grown to be published five days a week. In addition to the newspaper, the company publishes Entertainment Now!, a comprehensive arts and entertainment review; Tribune Magazine, a monthly publication geared to various contemporary African-American issues and interests; Sojourner, a visitor introduction, overview and updated tour of Philadelphia; and the Learning Key, an educational supplement for students, parents and teachers, highlighting local schools, programs of special interest and student achievement.
