The Patriot-News provides news and information to residents of Harrisburg, Pa., and the surrounding area. It has a circulation of more than 100,000 daily and 160,000 on Sunday. The newspaper s history dates to 1854 when two weekly papers were combined to form The Daily Patriot and Union, which reported extensively on the Civil War. The Patriot-News has won numerous state and national awards, including the APME Freedom of Information award and the National Press Club Freedom of Information prize. The newspaper is headquartered in Harrisburg and operates news bureaus in Carlisle, Camp Hill, Perry County, Lebanon County, Palmyra, Pa.; and Washington D.C.
