The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation is a state agency that assists individuals with physical and mental disabilities prepare for, start and maintain employment. It provides opportunities for them to become productive and independent in their communities. The agency offers a variety of services that include vocational evaluation, counseling, training, placement assistance, assistive technology, and diagnostic, restoration and support services. Its diagnostic services include medical, psychological and audiological examinations and tests that are used to understand the disability level and needs for specific types of services. Additionally, the agency conducts various educational and training programs to prepare individuals with developmental disabilities for a job. Its programs include basic academic, vocational, technical, college and on-the-job training. The agency also provides independent living skills and personal and work adjustment training. The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation operates more than 15 district offices throughout Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia.
