Mike Cogan started to work in the "lock"business during his teen years when he worked for a Philadelphia locksmith company. Mike found the business fascinating. After serving with distinction in Vietnam in the US Navy as a jet engine mechanic, and later at the Naval Air War Center in Warminster, Mike received his BA from Temple University. He started Mike's Lock Shop as a mobile locksmith with one truck in 1972. Six months later he opened his first store in Warminster on Street Road. Within a few years he moved to a larger, more visible location on York Road. In 1980 he moved just one block to the current location. Mike built the business through involvement in the community. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Warminster Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Warminster has given Mike the Paul Harris Award for Outstanding Service to the Community. Mike has also served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Philadelphia Locksmith Association. Mike is a true entrepreneur. He is not satisfied to simply install a lock as per a customer's request ; but prefers to work with his clients to properly identify their needs and deliver the best solution. This is what really sets Access Lock Technologies apart from other locksmiths. Mike, along with his two sons, has built a complete business based on solutions to their clients' security problems. The business has survived the test of time - 2007 will be the 35th Anniversary! It is truly a family business. In 2005 they split the business into two separate corporations. Mike's younger son, Ben Cogan, is VP of Access Lock Technologies, while his son Dan is president of Access Security Corp which installs integrated security systems that target larger businesses and institutions. Mike's wife, Candy is the company CFO.
