The Mercer County Juvenile Advisory Council (MCJAC) recruits, pre-trains and develops volunteers then match to local youth service agencies, schools, community programs requesting gaps, limitation and roles to be filled within their organizations to help prevent youth from falling through the cracks of the human service system. Volunteers act as mentors, advocates, tutors, etc., to provide positive relationships to at-risk youth, helping them reach more positive outcomes for their futures. MCJAC also provides training and seminars to local agencies to help improve services and programs, and facilitate cooperative relationships among them. Seminars are also offered to the community to provide information on current services available and accessibility, to discuss the emerging issues these young people are facing, and opportunities to advocate at local, state, and national levels to champion the changes/laws needed to improve outcomes.
