Marshall Street Elementary School was built in 1957 and serves over 500 students in kindergarten through grade four. It is a Reading First school that mandates a comprehensive literacy program based on scientific reading instruction. The school offers an extended day program in reading and mathematics to provide intensive support for at-risk students. Its academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as reading, mathematics, writing, social studies and science. The school organizes a variety of events, such as an open house, reading and math nights, Cinco de Mayo celebrations, student conferences, Dr. Seuss and bingo nights, and winter and spring concerts. It additionally works in conjunction with the Family Services of Montgomery County to offer a family strengthening program that provides services to families for building their self-esteem and improving the school performance. Marshall Street Elementary School is a part of the Norristown Area School District.
