Lycoming Animal Protection Society (LAPS) was founded in 1992 in Montoursville, Pennsylvania.During its brief history, many animals have been protected and adopted from this small, no-kill shelter. In time, LAPS became a non-profit organization. LAPS continues to be a haven for homeless felines and would like to eventually be able to offer assistance to other animal species, as well. All LAPS residents are given a physical at the veterinarian's office upon entry to the shelter. They also are tested for feline leukemia, kept current on their vaccinations, and spayed/neutered. If they are not old enough to be spayed/neutered before adoption, a certificate will be provided to a participating veterinarian who will perform the operation at no extra cost. LAPS is always looking for new volunteers. If you are crafty, like to bake, or just want to donate some time to work at a fundraising event, please call LAPS at 570-327-8707 to volunteer.
