Kirby's Paneling Center opened its doors in Mechanicsburg on April 1st, 1971, created by brothers-in-laws Paul E. Kirby and William A. Sockman. Paul had been in the building industry for 20 years and had the desire to start his own building supply business. Paul and William owned the business together until William retired in 1988. In 2006, Paul Kirby retired which led his nephew, Bill Sockman Sr. to purchase the company to keep the family business in good hands.
