The Halifax Fire Department is an all-volunteer organization that provides firefighting and rescue services for the local citizens and visitors in Halifax, Pa. It serves residential, commercial and industrial clients in Halifax, Wayne, Reed Jefferson and Jackson townships in Pennsylvania. The Halifax Fire Department was founded in 1994 by the merger between Powells Valley Volunteer Fire Company and Halifax & Community Fire Company. It maintains a range of rescue and fire suppression equipment that includes a tow vehicle, water tankers, diesel generator, compressed air foam devices, and roaster and barbecue trailers, as well as a tractor and loader with bucket, plow and mower deck attachments. Additionally, the department conducts vehicle rescue, car fire extinguishing and intervention training sessions.
