Greenfield Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in 1979. The owner, Frank Babik, VMD operated as a solo practitioner at this location until Sean Winnie, DVM joined the practice in 2001. In 2006 when Dr. Babik decided to reduce the number of hours he wished to practice, Dr. Winnie took over as medical director. Dr. Babik officially retired in November 2008. Since 2006 the hospital has undergone a series of upgrades and changes to serve the needs of our clients better. New radiographic equipment for more expedient and improved radiographic quality were acquired in 2007. An endoscope to assist animals with chronic ear infections was also purchased in 2007. In 2011 we purchased the Abaxis HM5 Complete Blood Count (CBC) and the VS2 Chemistry Analyzer to provide rapid in-house blood analysis for critical and urgent cases to better treat those patients. We are modernizing our facility with a veterinary software management program for invoicing, vaccine tracking, record keeping, inventory and billing/payments. Although transitioning from a completely paper based practice to a paperless practice is far from complete, we are making major strides in reaching that ultimate goal. Our recycling and environmental goals are set for the future and achievable in the next couple of years. There will also be some structural changes to the building forthcoming at the end of 2012 beginning of 2013 that should help accommodate more patients and provide better service for our existing clients as well as the new clients that join the GVH family every day.
