FAME - Fund for Advancement of Minorities through Education is a non-profit organization based in Pittsburgh, PA. For over 30 years, FAME has been dedicated to educating, empowering, and emboldening African American youth in grades 3-12. Through their merit scholarship program, FAME Scholars have the opportunity to attend independent partner schools in the Greater Pittsburgh area, receiving need-based financial assistance and additional enrichment support. FAME also offers the FAME Academy, a program designed to prepare talented African American students for success in high school and college, as well as the Teachers' Academy, which aims to address the lack of African American educators in independent schools.
FAME's mission is to provide access to college preparatory education and support the holistic development of African American students, fostering their growth as student ambassadors, future leaders, and community stewards. With a focus on academic excellence and cultivating partnerships, FAME has helped 100 of their scholars gain acceptance to 4-year colleges and universities. By connecting alumni to scholarship, internship, employment, and networking opportunities, FAME continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of African American youth and the community at large.
