When Frankford Candy & Chocolate Company began, companies like McCrory, J.J. Newberry, Woolworth and Kroger took a chance on the new candy company and kept coming back. As these small 5-cent and 10-cent stores grew into major regional and national chains so did Frankford Candy & Chocolate. Along with the hollow molded chocolate bunnies found on shelves across America the company produces seasonal candies and chocolate products for Easter, Halloween, Christmas and Valentines Day. Peter Pan creamy peanut butter filled treats and Jelly Planet jelly pops are among some of the year-round offerings the company produces. Frankford Candy & Chocolate also creates candy products sold under the Nickelodeon, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Beatrix Potter, The Simpsons and Dr. Suess How the Grinch Stole Christmas brands. The company is headquartered in Philadelphia. Sam Himmelstein founded Frankford Candy & Chocolate in 1947.
