The First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry, headquartered in Philadelphia, is a private military organization in the service of the United States. Established in 1774, it is a part of the army's National Guard and is a participant in the civic and social life of the city. It is also trained to conduct a variety of missions for the federal government, as well as the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including assistance during emergency situations, such as disaster relief and civil law enforcement. The First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry focuses on its training for its federal missions, as well as participating with the National Guard on ceremonial occasions.
