Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department, based in Edinboro, Pa., is responsible for fire protection and extinguishment in the city. It is also engaged in technical rescue situations, such as vehicle extrication, high-angle rescue operations and confined space and trench rescue. It uses two engine companies, a truck company and a rural water tanker. A majority of its members are cross-trained to provide fire and rescue support as well as emergency medical services. It supports its Fire and Rescue Division by conducting traffic control operations and scene security, as well as protecting its members operating on the scene, from oncoming traffic and other hazards. The fire police division also provides traffic control for numerous community events, including Edinboro University's homecoming parade and the Hamot Triathlon.
