Lancaster Postal Employees Federal Credit Union is member-owned and dedicated to serving the financial needs of our membership. History of Lancaster Postal Employees Federal Credit Union The Lancaster Postal Employees Federal Credit Union opened for business in 1933 in the basement of the Downtown Post Office located at 48 W. Chestnut St. Lancaster PA. The cost of membership was $5.00 and the credit union was open 3 afternoons a week. It was staffed by a city letter carrier who conducted credit union business after he delivered his mail route. We have since evolved into a $10.M + credit union with over 2, 500 members and a staff of eight. As a state-chartered credit union, our members' accounts are insured up to $100, 000.00 by the National Credit Union Adminstration (NCUA). LPECU is a member of the Lan-Chester Chapter of Credit Union, the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (PCUA). We are also a reporting member of the Credit Bureau. The membership of this credit union is limited to: employees of the United States Postal Service who are supervised or paid from Harrisburg; associations of such persons; employees of this credit union; retired members who retain their membership in the credit union; and members of their immediate family.
