Delaware County residents and businesses everyday generate over 100 million gallons of wastewater. This wastewater must be collected, conveyed and treated in a safe, effective way that prevents the contamination of the community's streams, rivers and water supply. DELCORA, The Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority, has been providing a regional solution to this vital need for almost three decades. As a result of the company s cost-effective management, the people of our area enjoy a clean, healthy environment. A major part of this program is the operation of its 25-acre Western Regional Treatment Plant in Chester, Pa. This state-of-the-art facility uses the latest technology to remove harmful pollutants from the wastewater so that it can be safely discharged into the Delaware River. The treatment process is carefully monitored from start to finish to ensure removal of solid material, organic matter, microorganisms and industrial wastes that are harmful to people and the environment.
