The Canonsburg Police Department's 15-member force answers between 5,000 and 7,000 calls for service each year. It enforces state vehicle and criminal codes and the borough's ordinances. Officers patrol both by vehicle and by foot.
In addition to working to fight and prevent crime, the Canonsburg Police Department also participates in myriad state task forces and other community outreach programs. One officer is assigned to facilitate the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program at the Canon-McMillan Middle School and five other officers are member of the Washington County District Attorney's Drug Task Force.
The department is run by Chief R.T. Bell.
