Based in Pittsburgh, ASSET is an independent, nonprofit education reform organization that helps in improving teaching and learning processes. The center works in the area of science and technology education for children from kindergarten through grade eight. It offers a variety of resources for teachers professional development, programs evaluation and consulting services. The center s resources include instructional strategy courses and modules, coaching and mentoring, demonstration lessons, product orientation, and teacher s leadership skill development programs. Its other resources include environment and ecology toolboxes, refurbishment packs and block kits, science notebooks, and Web-based product access. Established in 1994, ASSET operates more than 45 member school districts, charter and private schools. The center serves more than 3,000 teachers and 125,000 students in over 200 schools. ASSET has partnerships with the National Science Resources Center and National Academies of Science.
