Altoona Housing Authority was established in 1949 with the motive of providing a safe, affordable and secure living environment to the underprivileged people. The housing assistance to low income families is provided through two main programs, such as Public Housing and the Section 8 Voucher programs. The main goal of the housing authority is to cater housing facilities to low income families, individuals, senior citizens, disabled and handicapped individuals. Altoona Housing Authority also provides assistance in the form of vouchers to the people in need. The housing authority runs various communities, such as Fairview Hills, Pleasant Village and The Towers.
