Founded in 1934, Allentown Art Museum is a privately funded and member supported museum. It exhibits more than 13,000 works of art that feature over 2,000 years of cultural heritage. The museum showcases works of various artists, including more than 50 paintings and sculptures by Samuel H. Kress. It also features Italian renaissance paintings, Mediterranean textiles, and Asian, Indian and Tibetan artworks . Additionally, it maintains a collection of European paintings and paper gift works. The museum participates in various exhibitions and conducts a variety of school, after-school and public educational programs. Allentown Art Museum offers various services for teachers that include visits, outreach programs and online training. In addition, it enrolls artists who offer lessons to students and maintains a location in Allentown, Pa.
