A Total Approach consists of a group of dedicated occupational therapists, physical therapist and speech language pathologist. Our core framework for therapy is based on sensory integration. We believe that each child has a distinct individual profile and that each intervention plan should be unique to the profile of the child. Our therapists have many collective years of experience in the pediatric field. We provide many different services to enable us to complete individualized program planning. In many instances we liaise with school teachers, homebound services, as well as behavioral support staff to ensure communication and cross training. We complete school observations, as well as home visits to ensure adequate programming as our approach is family centered. We serve most of our clients in a private capacity, though many school districts and state funded organizations utilize our services. Most of our services are provided in a one to one adult child ratio, though we also work with children in dyads or groups as they progress and are more ready to cope with social skills in more challenging situations. The "just right" challenge is important to us and again is determined on each child's personal profile. The family has ongoing opportunities to schedule meetings with staff at our center to discuss issues of placement, IEP goals, and choice of services. Our staff is well trained and attends a two hour training meeting every week, as well as attend a one-on-one one hour training with their supervisor each week. The staff has an extensive continuing education budget to ensure ongoing quality of treatment. A Total Approach investigates and adds cutting edge technology into our services each year. We believe that time is valuable and therefore we should enquire about services that could assist us in "closing the gap" for children more quickly, as well as have the potential to maintain the gains made during therapy. We do serve a large population of children diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorder, though we do serve large populations of children with developmental learning disabilities such as non-verbal learning disorder, attention deficit disorder, and reading and writing disorders amongst others. We also thoroughly enjoy working with children diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Traumatic Brain Injury Though we specialize in children, we also carry a number of adult clients, who benefit greatly from our technology oriented programs. A Total Approach also provides ongoing seminars that provides caregivers with information that could assist in their own understanding of each individual child.
