History
Both Hungarian immigrants, Mike and Maggie Vali opened this homestyle restaurant 37 years ago. They never knew each other when they left Hungary during the revolution of 1956. They met and married eight years later after starting their new lives in America. It was always Mike's dream to own his own restaurant, so with Maggie along for the ride, they left Hollywood, California for the beautiful serenity of Wallowa Lake in Joseph, Oregon. Flash forward all those wonderful years in business and now Mike is retired, but Maggie is still in the front of the house teasing customers and wowing them with her special brand of service. Mike and Maggie's son, Michael and his wife Dionne now run the kitchen hand-in-hand following the original one entree-a-night menu.
