Trico Insurance began as Tri-County Insurance in 1964 by a Beaverton home builder, Wedgwood Homes. At that time it was generally a captive agency writing business for Wedgwood Homes only. They were building throughout Oregon and Washington at that time. In 1973 the agency was purchased by Philip Brown and Marilyn Walker and it became a full fledged independent agency at that time, representing many companies over the years. Phil and Marilyn's first office was on Watson Street in Beaverton. As the agency expanded it relocated to an office on the corner of Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and 103rd, then to Laurel Street near 103rd in Beaverton. Their next move was to 110th St. Just prior to Christmas of 1997 the office was nearly destroyed by fire. Following that disaster the agency moved to its current address on 107th, right off of Beaverton-Hillsdale. In 2004 the agency name was changed to Trico Insurance, LLC. On October 29th, 2006, co-founder Phil Brown passed away. Effective the first of January 2007, Cliff Erikson, who joined the agency in the spring of 2003, purchased the agency from Phil's partner, Marilyn Walker. Marilyn continues to work for the agency assisting her many personal lines customers with their insurance needs.
